Banks and Company starts brewing at Park Brewery, Wolverhampton

1890

Banks and Company becomes Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries (W&DB) with an amalgamation of two other breweries, George Thompson & Co. and Charles Colonel Smiths'

1947

W&DB floated on the stock exchange

1999

W&DB purchases Burton based brewer Marston's, Thompson & Evershed. Pedigree becomes part of the portfolio

2005

Several pub and brewing acquisitions later (including Mansfield and Jennings Beer), W&DB becomes the third largest UK brewer

2007: New name for a new era

Having grown to a nationwide business, the name was changed from Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries to Marston's PLC.

2008

By this date, Marston's PLC had made further acquisitions, including Ringwood, Wychwood and Brakspear. Hobgoblin becomes part of the portfolio

2009

Marston's invents the FastCask system, a revolutionary system using beads of yeast that allow the beer to 'drop bright' almost immediately

2015

Acquisition of Thwaites Beers - adding Wainwright to the portfolio and a first step into lager and cider with Warsteiner and Kingstone Press and the agreement of Marston's first composite supply contract with Thwaites Pub Co.

2017

Acquisition of Charles Wells Beers Business - Bombardier, Youngs, McEwans and the UK license to Estrella Damm, ERDINGER, Kirin and Founders. Further composite supply agreements to Charles Wells, Youngs & Brakspear Pub Co's
