Engineering is at the heart of what we do – from keeping our lines running smoothly to launching innovative new products.

Across the industry, women are still underrepresented. Women make up only 15.7% of the engineering workforce in the UK, and that’s declined from 16.5% in 2022. We face a shortfall of 1 million engineers by 2030 – crucial roles when it comes to delivering against the government’s number one objective of economic growth.  

Research also shows that young people are not aware of job opportunities in the engineering sector. We want to do our bit to change that.

This week, we’ll be sharing stories every day from some of our incredible engineers to inspire others and show that there’s no one route into this exciting, vital field. By showcasing these stories on LinkedIn, we hope to encourage more women to consider a career in engineering and help build a stronger, more diverse future for our teams and our industry.

We’re starting our showcase with a podcast featuring Clarissa Wong, Process Engineer in our Northampton Brewery, and Gavin Lea, Site Engineering Manager at our Rugby site, in conversation with Emma Knowles, our Director of Engineering.

Together, they explore the challenges facing recruitment in engineering, how having diverse teams is the key to success, and how everyone has a part to play in creating a more inclusive engineering world.
